My father was born in 1900 and the address on the birth certificate is Nuttall Hall. The family story is that he was born in a room on a bridge that spanned a road. The address given in the 1901 census is No 1 Nuttall Road. It occurs to me that it may have been an arched gatehouse to the hall. Was there such a thing at that time? |

John Greenhalgh was born in 1794 to John & Mary (believed to be Brooks) in Holcombe, the information suggests he was one of six children born in the district to John & Mary. John married Mary Shaw in 1814 in St. Mary's Bury, he was transported to Australia in 1821. Mary followed in 1823. It is believed that both his father John & he were stocking weavers. |
