Ramsbottom War News

The Ramsbottom Heritage Society intends to issue a news sheet for every year of the war telling the stories of people living in the town.  This year issue 2 will be on sale from May 28th to May 30th 2011 in St Paul’s Gardens, the Heritage Gallery ( Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon only), and on the train, and will feature 1940. The newspaper has 20 pages and costs £1 and has articles such as

Local MP killed in action

More evacuees arrive

Snow hits our region

Meat rationing begins

Issue 1 published in May 2010 concentrated on 1939 and the monthly events as Ramsbottom prepared for war. The new sheet is 12 pages of A4 and the first page is reproduced here
