Question and Answer
From Barry Palmer
My mother's family were Tattersalls from the Rawtenstall area.
According to my research, my great grandfather, Enoch Michell Tattersall (b 1833 or 1832) a farmer and butcher from Wain Gate farm married a Lucy Haslam (born 1833), a widow who was a beer seller at the Royal Oak Hotel in Ramsbottom around 1881. They were married in 1895 after Enoch's first wife's (Sussanah) death - which was in either 1891 or 1894. Enoch M. passed away in 1904 and Lucy in 1912.
It's fascinating trolling back through the old records but quite tricky from 16000 klms the other side of the world.
I would be grateful if your society has any research which might be able to corroborate this information. Equally if you are aware of any work which has been done on Enoch M Tattersall's family tree I would be appreciative.
